Like Father, Like Son

My favorite story of Stuart growing up was when he was probably 5 years old. Walking down the grocery store aisle he happens upon this very large man. And being 5 he YELLS out, "MUM! Look at that great, big FAT man!" Mom quickly hushes Stuart telling him that saying those things could really hurt that man's feelings. Being the sweet boy that he was, and still is, he finds a way to rectify what he said and re-build this man's self esteem. He waits until he passes the man again on the next aisle and YELLS out, "MUM, look at that man with his great, big muscles!"

I laugh every time I hear this story. Last week, my mother-in-law lived that same moment over again, but this time with her grandson. She had taken Silas to Hungry Jacks for lunch and had seen this very large teenager cleaning the tables. She took Silas into the play area and the boy followed them. As he bent over to wash the tables, his pants were half off his bum. And Silas saw it. He yelled out, "Grandma look at that man's BIG bum!" She nearly lost her lunch :) She told me that the boy just kept cleaning and she quickly told Silas to finish his lunch. Thank God he is too young to understand diversion :)
