Hawaiian Haystacks and no TV...

Today is Monday, my sort-of dreaded day of the week. I have to plan my menu, do laundry (today there are 5 loads to wash, 6 if I decide to wash diapers today) which includes me hanging every piece on the line to dry- this takes a lot of time, grocery shop and clean my floors, and make a good friend a meal for dinner and at some point I need to take a shower. It's already 9:30am and I've barely started. Why? You ask? Because I can't find my remote control to the TV! And this is painful for me. Well, not really painful, but annoying. The one way I get all this accomplished on Mondays is to let my kids watch their favorite morning cartoons on ABC Kids (sort of like PBS Sprout). I have tried to be Supermom, but it isn't working. I've tried to do my menu, look in my cupboards and plan my week but my little guys are over the top. They are fighting, stealing toys, pushing chairs down my tile hallways, finding toys under my couch- that really shouldn't be touched before sanitizing, chasing the cat, falling down, hiding in cupboards...the list goes on. On a normal day, maybe one where I'm not pregnant and have my chores done, this would be fun. But, this morning, while I'm trying to roll with the punches, this is giving me a minor anxiety attack. I think I'll just have to wait till naptime to get all that I want to get done accomplished. For today, we're on a different agenda. One that's called "Change of Plans". Maybe it's a good thing that Stuart won't be home tonight until late, I'll get the time to clean up before he arrives asking "what did you do all day?" I hate that question. Anyone else ever get that one?

At least I have one meal planned for the week. Tonight we're having Hawaiian Haystacks. I've never made them, but found the recipe here. They look so easy and fun, and best of all...I have all the ingredients in my pantry.

Now I'm off to continue the search for the remote...

What a fun thing to make! I hope you can find rest and joy in your day despite the lack of remote and crazy boys.

I've started keeping the stuff to make personal mini pizzas for nights when I have no dinner planned. It has been a tremendous hit for all. Audrey even munches on the crusts!

ps-I do the same thing with TV. Sometimes it's the only way to get something done. Because it is on so little, when it is on, they are glued! I am ashamed (slightly) to admit that today I let them watch over an hour so I could clean out and organize the pantry!

Love to you sweet girl, I got exhausted just READING your to-do list...

So have you ever heard the story about the girl whose husband comes home one day to find the house absolutely torn apart? Dishes absolutely everywhere, peanut butter all over the walls, half naked children running about, well, you get the idea...and he panics, thinking something terrible must have happened to his wife...and he runs through the house and finds her in the backyard, all oiled up in her bikini lying in the sun? And he yells and says, "You frightened me, what in the WORLD...?!"

and she says, "Well, every day you come home and ask me what I do all day....so today, I just didn't do it"!

maybe you could try this technique :)
